FAQ’s About Our Pricing
Our fees are the same for Counselling and Peer Mental Health Support. Our approach means that the service is the same whether you are seeing a counsellor or peer worker.
A 25% reduced fee applies for any Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and anyone with no or low income. Please contact us at info@therapyshmerapy.org.au prior to booking to access this.
Cancellations: You will receive a 50% refund of the session fee if you cancel your appointment at least 48 hours in advance. However, no refunds will be provided for cancellations made within 48 hours of the appointment.
Medicare: Unfortunately the Australian Government does not classify counselling and peer work services as clinical treatment eligible for coverage under the Medicare model. This means Mental Health Care Plans also cannot be used with us as it is a service provided through Medicare.
Private Health Insurance: Similar to Medicare, unfortunately not everyone is eligible to be covered under every fund. As of October 2024, sessions with Thalia can be covered if you are with an ARHG fund or BUPA.

Peer Work can be covered under a few different NDIS items. Please let us know if you’re interested in this but this item is not available in your plan.
Why is the price different to the usual fees? The service we provide under the NDIS has to be different so that we can comply with NDIA regulations. This includes but is not limited to requiring set durations for sessions, developing service agreements, and additional admin time spent on invoicing or liasing with plan managers and care teams. The pricing set complies with the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits 2024-25.
Pay the Rent
Pay the Rent
We live, work and play on Aboriginal Land. Approximately 1% of our income is paid monthly to Traditional Owners through PayTheRent.net.au.
We know that Australia always was and always will be Aboriginal Land. We are also painfully aware that the land was taken forcibly, without a Treaty or reparations made.
We Pay the Rent to acknowledge the history of genocide and oppression on Aboriginal land, ensure self-determination, and recognise Aboriginal sovereignty.
